On Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, Montgomery College Department of History and Political Science hosted a panel named “Through European Eyes” featuring three European journalists who worked or are working as Washington D.C. correspondents for their news organizations. Messrs. Gunnar Schultz-Burkel (former Senior Correspondent for ARD, a German public television broadcasting service), David Smith (Washington Bureau Chief for The Guardian, a British newspaper), and Marcin Warona (Washington Bureau Chief for TVN, a Polish television broadcasting service) held a two-hour-long discussion, embarking upon a variety of contemporary political topics, such as the difference between European and American health care systems, immigration, wealth inequality, and the eventful presidency of Mr. Donald J. Trump. The panel discussion was moderated by Professor Andrew Krieger of the Sociology Department and held in the Science West Building in Room 301.
