Danielle Costa, Editor-In-Chief

Hey! I'm Danielle Costa, currently serving as an Editor-in-Chief at the Advocate Newspaper. I'm an enthusiastic student pursuing an associate degree in Graphic Design, and I also hold an associate's degree in General Studies HACL (Humanities, Arts, Communication, and Languages) at Montgomery College. I'm proud to share that I was awarded the Dean's List all semesters of my journey at MC, I'm a Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member, I was awarded the Dr. Harry Harden Jr. Student Academic Excellence Awards this past Spring 2021, and for my role at The Advocate Newspaper I've also received an "Excellence in Leadership." I'm passionate about bringing social change and justice through digital design & storytelling. Because of that, I worked towards being a Digital Storytelling Intern at Montgomery College, and I currently work as a researcher to implement a Public Stories Lab at the University of Maryland, Baltimore City (UMBC). I'm also thrilled to share my new position as a student worker at the Office of Equity and Inclusion, in which I'm looking forward to continuing to amplify voices and fight for Justice & Social Change. Being at the Advocate contributed immensely towards my goal. I was able to work on my writing and media management skills. I was also able to work directly with students and help them grow in their abilities and speak up their truth. The advocate is for sure a remarkable and essential part of my journey.
