Montgomery College took on the CCBC-Catonsville Cardinals in a match that started off tight, but eventually ended up lopsided in the Raptors’ favor thanks to a potent offensive performance from MC.
A combination of goals from forward Gabriel N’Dyaie, along with midfielders Alferid Kemal and Raphael Pacano sealed the dominating 5-1 victory to improve the team’s record to 10-2-1.
Forward/midfielder Marcos Moradel also added a goal in the latter half of the match.
The first half was evenly played. Both teams went back and forth with several scoring opportunities, but a strong defense from each side led to a deadlock 1-1 match at halftime.
When asked what he told his team to do differently in the second half, coach Braz said that the idea was to maintain possession of the ball as much as they could to keep CCBC from scoring opportunities.
Coach Braz’s words seemed to have come to fruition as MC went on a 4-0 scoring run in the second half, keeping CCBC from hitting the back of the net for the remainder of the match.
After the game, forward Gabriel N’Dyaie spoke about what it felt like to score the first goal of the game, and later on, a fantastic header that was just out of the reach of the opposing goalie, “We needed to start strong and to get out in front early. We needed to keep this up and get over the edge when we were tied.”
