As students, we all know that this semester is buckling down, and professors are going to be throwing chapters upon chapters of information at us. You may be staying up well past your bedtime in order to finish that chapter on “Meiosis and Mitosis,” only when you wake up you have no recollection on what it was about. Luckily for students, the Biology Department is here to help.
The Biology Department has just started a “Brain Training” seminar for students designed to help retain new information. Professor Gina Wesley kindly guides and engages students through the steps of how memory works, what you can do to increase your long term memory storage and walks students through simple to follow study guide processes.
“The seminars are set up for the biology students to succeed,” says Professor Michael Chase a Biology Professor. “We want to see student not only pass Bio 107, but understand the information presented to them.”
The seminars which started this week will continue to be held two days a week and new topics will be brought into discussion every other week.
Meetings will be held in room SC 210
The schedule is as follows:
- Week 3 of semester: Wed 9/19, 2:00-3:00; Thurs 9/20, 10:00-11:00
- Week 4 of semester: Monday 9/24, 11:00-12:00 and Tuesday 9/25, 1:00-2:00
- This schedule will repeat in 2 week blocks (odd weeks Wed/Thurs, even weeks Mon/Tues).
