Montgomery College will hold its opening night for the musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. The production is directed by Bobby Smith and James Gardiner who have worked with the students since early September. Smith directed and choreographed “A Grand Night for Singing” last fall.
The cast includes Conor Scanlan as Charlie Brown, Mili Diaz as Sally Brown, Awa Sal Secka as Lucy, Kevin Mori as Linus, Jonathan Miot as Snoopy, and Michael Mainwaring as Schroeder.
While speaking to the performers, it was apparent that the confidence was there, and the key was that they were comfortable with each other.
“We’ve all known each other for a while,” Scanlan said. “We’ve all worked Summer Dinner Theater over the summer, where we put on two shows. To come back to the regular semester and be surrounded by the same group of people has made the process a lot smoother.”
When it comes to the actual performance, don’t let the Charlie Brown name fool you into thinking that it’s a show for children. The themes are “deeper than you think,” according to Secka.
Tickets run $10 but are available to seniors and students for $8, and the musical is set to run Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
