Say hello to your new colors, MC. No longer will Montgomery College’s three campuses fly three separate flags. All of MC will now be united under a single identity: purple, black and silver.
MC President Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard made the big announcement Thursday, March 2 at the Rockville campus track field. Surrounded by the Cheer squad, various clubs and copious amounts of purple attire and balloons, Dr. Pollard unveiled MC’s new duds.
Voted on by you, the MC community, the color scheme will replace all three current campus schemes. “It wasn’t my decision,” said Dr. Pollard, following the announcement, “This was a wonderful opportunity for our faculty, or staff, or students and alumni.””Over 2,000 people voted.”
Set to be announced as well, the new college mascot had such a thin margin – less than 50 votes – that voting will continue until Wednesday, March 7, at which time a winner will be decided. The two mascots in contention are the Raptors and the Guardians.
