Montgomery College student volunteers will team with Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa to “rebuild a better, stronger Tuscaloosa.”
MC students will explore the culture and history of the area, build leadership skills and develop strong bonds with the rest of their team.
The MC Alternative Breakers Spring 2015 aim to provide disaster relief in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Tuscaloosa was devastated by the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham Tornado in 2011.
Alternative Spring Breakers will look to explore social issues and discover new things about themselves through purposeful action in an environment that cannot be replicated on an MC campus. These lessons and perspectives can then be applied in students’ own communities.
MC students can expect to pay $250, which will cover all expenses for the week long trip. Scholarships opportunities are available and all applicants will participate in fundraising.
Applications are now open for Alternative Spring Break in Tuscaloosa, Alabama Sunday, March 15 to Saturday, March 21 and are due on or before 12:00 pm December 5, 2014.
