Last Saturday, your Raptors took on the Cecil College Seahawks in a early afternoon match, and came out on top with a huge 8-0 victory.
The Raptors’ effort was truly balanced, thanks in large part to superb defense, tremendous goaltending, and a pair of goals by midfielders Alferid Kemal, who notched a pair, and Jamie Campuzano.
Early on, the first goal was tallied by Kemal on a spectacular corner kick that just grazed by the opponents’ goalie into the net.
After another goal by Kemal, Cecil continued to attack the Raptors’ defense in MC territory, but to no avail. The Raptors played very well on defense en route to their fifth shutout of the season, improving their overall record to 11-2-1.
As the Raptors make their way toward the playoff regionals, veteran leadership, key attributions by the younger players, and a solid gameplan are going to be vital for a deep postseason run.
Coach Braz has repeatedly said over the course of the season that his team needs to keep focus and stay with the game plan he sets forth every match. The team cannot underestimate their opponent, and to play as hard for one opponent as they do the next, no matter how good they are.
As of Oct. 13, the Raptors are now 13-2-1.
