If you don’t know where you are going after MC or when you will be going there, there are resources available to help you get through this process.
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Oct.16. From 9 am to 1 pm in the Physical Education Center, the Rockville campus is hosting Transfer Information Day. More than 40 representatives from four-year universities will be available to answer your questions. These representatives will have the specific guidelines for what you need for enrollment.
According to Transfer Times,
Do your financial aid homework:
- You may qualify for a transfer scholarship
- Remember that deadlines are crucial
Are you going to transfer after two years? Having an associate degree, the equivalent of 60 credits, will help you transition better to your next institution. With your associate degree:
- Make sure to register for courses that qualify for your major
- Ask department advisors about what you should take
No matter how many credits you earn at Montgomery College, you will need to request that a transcript be sent to the four-year universities you apply to, this can be done through your MyMC account. The number of required credits may vary for each university.
Another way to prepare for transfer is to polish your essay writing skills. Essays are often a requirement for admission. Proofread your final draft, repeat this step, and then have someone else read it like a professor or advisor. The MC Writing Center is another helpful resource located in the Macklin Tower.
