The Montgomery College – Rockville Men’s basketball 2010-11 season has reached its end. Their final regular season game was a loss to Frederick Community College, 78-66.
They finished the season with a record of 19-9, including a victory in the first round of the playoffs over Garrett College, 86-72. They also finished 2-0 against MC-Germantown, beating the Gryphons by 91-69 and 103-60, thereby establishing their inter-college dominance for the season.
First year coach, Mark Crutchfield, and his talented staff have had a very successful year. They surpassed the expectations of many and have a tremendous foundation to build on top of. However, most of the credit goes to the players and all of their hard work.
When asked to reflect on the season, Coach Crutchfield said “I am very happy for my coaching staff and team for having such a great basketball season. Hard work and believing in one another have been the key ingredients for our success.” He further added that they had built a strong basketball family, which will hopefully continue to get better for years to come.
Ennis Whatley, Jr. is led the team in scoring, rebound and steals, averaging nearly 21 points and 11 boards and 2.5 steals per game.
Erick Satchell is leading the team with 4 assists per game and is second in steals.
Thank you to the team for a fun and interesting season. I wish you all the best of luck in the future. Go Knights!
