In Nat Turner’s Name

In Honor of Nat Turner

November 16, 2017

In honor of Nathaniel Turner

And he freed himself of iron chains

And from his lips crept the will of God

And the fields of snow were consumed by the eternal flame

“I see a sea of blood bonds and hands freed.”

The verse fell from his tongue

Giving sight to the blind

Voice to the mute

And they freed themselves of iron chains

And from their lips marched the will of God

And the fields of oppression were consumed by a generation no longer tame

No longer ashamed

No longer the same

All in Nat Turner’s name
