In celebration of Montgomery College’s  70th anniversary, from Monday Oct. 31 through Nov. 4, MC will have a spirit week. Everyone is encouraged to wear MC colors and to how their MC pride all week.

Students will have the opportunities to participate in spirited festivities and to also participate in some philanthropic work.

On Monday, online submissions will begin for spirit doors, most spirited team (three or more), and most spirited individual. Submissions will be accepted through social media including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram using the #MCPROUD. One may also email their submissions to [email protected].

Submissions will be displayed on the spirit week website and the top three submissions will be available for voting Thursday, Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. until Friday, Nov. 4 at noon. The winners from all three categories will receive a pizza party.

On Tuesday, a canned food drive for on campus pantries will begin. Locations on where to find donation bins on each campus are listed below. Canned food items and nonperishable goods will be accepted at these locations:

      1. Germantown Campus–Mary Robinson
        • HS Building Bookstore Lobby
        • HT Building lobby
        • PK Building lobby
        • SA Building lobby
        • BE Building lobby
      2. Gaithersburg Business Training Center–Sharon Maxwell: Customer Service Office, Room 414
      3. 40 West Gude–Nancy Lineman:  Employees will receive bags for donation collection
      4. Rockville Campus–Nik Sushka:  Students will donate in the Student Life Office and employees will receive bags
      5. Office of Information Technology–Nancy Lineman:  Employees will receive bags for donation collection
      6. Central Services Building–Nancy Lineman:  Employees will receive bags for donation collection
      7. Takoma Park/Silver Spring–Tierra Washington
        • ST Building, Vice President and Provost Office (Room 306)
        • SY Building, 2nd floor (near the bookstore)
        • ST Building, 1st floor atrium
        • RC, 2nd floor (library entrance)
        • CF Building, lobby (near the art store)

On Wednesday, online submissions will continue so they may be voted for on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, a pep rally at each campus will be held. Students are encouraged to attend in their school colors and wear their most spirited MC costume.

Dr. Pollard and the schools mascot will announce their most spirited employee and student.

There will be food, giveaways and prizes at each pep rally

Times for pep rallies:

11:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m. TP/SS Pep Rally, Student Services Atrium

1 p.m.-1:30 p.m. GT Pep Rally, Cafeteria

2:15 p.m.-2:45 p.m. RV Pep Rally, Faculty/Staff Dining

At the end of the pep rallies, a panel of judges will choose the top three submissions in each category and they will be up for voting between Thursday at 5 p.m. to Friday at noon.

** Rockville Campus’s Student Senate will hosting their annual Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Be sure to attend for food, giveaways, games and feel free to bring in donations for canned food drive.

On Friday, online voting will close and the winner will be announced at 5 p.m.

Finally, on Saturday will be a recofnition of the Raptors Basketball, Soccer and Volleyball teams.
