Montgomery College will be hosting a Hunger Banquet for all college students and employees this upcoming Wednesday, Feb. 27, to be held in the Theater Arts building from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Upon arriving, attendees will receive their own personal story and will be ushered to participating restaurants such as Café Milan, Brown’s Pizzeria, and Mimi’s Kitchen. Speaking at the banquet will be University of Maryland College Park student Andrew Bresee, who will discuss his participation in Councilmember Valerie Ervin’s SNAP challenge as well as his work in the University of Maryland’s Food Recovery Network.
“The Hunger Banquet is an interactive event that helps people to learn about causes and effects of poverty in a hands-on way,” event coordinator and Service Learning Coordinator Nik Sushka said.
Through this event, student organizers hope to help people combat poverty and hunger in Montgomery County by raising awareness and supporting Manna Food Center’s work.
