A Valentine’s Day’s celebration was organized by the Student Activities Board on February 13th at the SV Atrium from 12 to 2:00pm. This was their first event in 2025 and since Friendsgiving, and what better way to celebrate than on the day before Valentine’s Day?
What caught my eye was how engaged everybody was at the the event. All the goodies that were shown to the students were bags of kisses, ring pops, hard candies and cute stuffed animals.
The first people I interviewed, Keon and Nnamdi, were in charge of the candy booth, and they had both expressed their thoughts on the event.
“It is pretty good.” – Nnamdi
“And I think it is going to be great!”- Keon chimed in, sharing that same sentiment about the event.
After interviewing the people who were in charge of the candy, I went on to ask two female students, Blessing and Ludmila, their opinion.

“It is pretty chill.” – Blessing
Sharing that same sentiment as her friend Blessing, Ludmila revealed her plans for Valentine Day.
“I don’t know. Just take myself out on a date!” – Ludmila
Blessing who agreed, added, “Have some self-care!”
After interviewing them, I thought that I could talk to the men and ask them the same question. Their names are Yanni Masulisi and Isai.
Similar to the women’s take on the celebration, Yanni was more than okay to express his thought.
“It is pretty cool! I like the little stuffed animals. I see how they’re gathering up flowers. It’s all good vibe, it’s fun.”
I asked his friend, Isai the same question and the answer he gave me was pretty hilarious.
“Where’s my valentine? Send me a valentine!”
Asking the same question I asked the women about their plans; the answers the men gave me were a little different.
“Um, I would have to say for my Valentine Day, I would just give roses to someone very special, whoever comes my way. – Yanni
“I want my valentine day being about sleep” – Isai
The Valentine’s Day event that both SAB and the Office of Student Life had arranged was a success, seeing how everybody participated.
Seeing how it all unfolded, everyone can be somebody’s valentine without it being a romantic sense.
