170 students from 12 Introduction to 2-D Design classes materialized their lessons through a vivid display of “quilt” patterns projected onto Montgomery College Rockville Campus’ Humanities and Campus Center buildings. Art 102, or Introduction to 2-D Design, explores “elements and principles of visual expression with an emphasis on two-dimensional form (through a) wide range of conceptual approaches and media to develop critical visual thinking,” as written on the Montgomery College website.

Contemporary artist Natan Diacon-Furtado spearheaded the exhibit, a part of MC’s Artist in Residence Program. According to the artist’s website, “based in Troy, New York, Natan is deeply committed to working across the Americas and the global south.”
