The Achieving the Promise Academy is a free program within Montgomery College established to dismantle academic, financial, and social barriers. Problems often arise outside of the classroom when it comes to a student’s resources, which can severely limit their ability to do the best they can in a class. The ATPA the resource to support those students.

Students who wish to meet their academic goals can be paired with a coach whose goal is the same as the students—to achieve their furthest reaches of academic success. Coaches will help the students by means of guiding students through the process of studying, tutoring, assisting with time management, organization, and other skills.

Students can be recommended by a faculty member or can reach out to the academy themselves. They will be required to complete an online self-assessment, adhere to the recommendations of the coach, as well as commit to a successful academic career.

The ATPA can be contacted by phone number 240-567-ATPA (2872), by email [email protected], at the ATPA office on the Germantown campus in room BE 115 and the Rockville Campus in room SB 008.
