No Fire in Humanities, Just Dust from Construction
January 30, 2017
Earlier this morning, at around 10:30 AM, the Humanities building evacuated residing students and professors due to a fire alarm. However, no fire or smoke set off the alarm. According to Marcus Rosano, Media Relations Director, dust from surrounding construction was the cause.
The evacuation was short, though some students were released from classes. Students, Jarata Jaffa and Samory Senh, were both excused from classes due to the evacuation.
According to vintechnology.com, “If you’re doing some remodeling, or your smoke detector is located in an area that has a lot of dust in the air for any reason, this can set off your smoke detectors.”
