“The fact is that feminism right now, the movement itself, isn’t inclusive of women of color. When we talk about feminism, we talk about freeing the nipple, we talk about women’s equality, but we don’t talk about equality amongst feminists themselves. Black women and hispanic women don’t get paid the same as white women do. Because of that, I decided I wanted to create an organization named ‘Shift’ which is shifting the narrative of the feminism movement at the current moment to one that’s inclusive of all people. The LGBQT community, all those without an affiliation.”

When Alla Bliskovsky stated ” Black women and Hispanic women don’t get paid the same as white women do”
I’m assuming she researched about it and got some statistic samples of a women population so she can confirm that Black and Hispanic women don’t get paid the same as white women.

Hi Katherine,
Humans of MC is a segment where we interview a student and take one quote and put it here. These are Gislene Tasayco’s words, but I’m guessing she probably did do the research on it before starting Shift.
Thanks for your comment,
Alla
